About Shorin- Ryu stile:
Shorin-Ryu, a major modern Okinawan martial art founded by Choshin Chibana in 1933, blends traditional Okinawan Shuri-Te techniques.
Chibana was a top student of Shuri-Te master Anko Itosu, who himself was a key student of the renowned warrior Matsumura Sōkon, the "Miyamoto Musashi of Okinawa."
Matsumura synthesized Okinawan and Chinese martial arts into a coherent system taught to students like Itosu, who then refined and passed it on. Chibana named his style Shorin-Ryu in 1933 to honor its Chinese Shaolin roots and differentiate it from other evolving styles based on Itosu's teachings.
Before this, style names were uncommon in Okinawan martial arts, unlike in Japan.

Features of the Style
Shorin-Ryu is typically characterized by natural breathing, natural (narrow and high) stances, and direct, linear movements rather than circular ones.
Shorin-Ryu practitioners emphasize the importance of precise body mechanics. They believe that fluid movements and flexible stances are crucial for swift evasion in violent situations. Furthermore, a stable structure is considered essential for generating powerful techniques. However, overly deep stances are generally avoided as they can hinder agility and mobility.
A distinctive aspect of this system is its punching technique. Unlike purely horizontal or vertical punches, Shorin-Ryu employs a nearly vertical fist, slightly angled inward. This aligns the largest knuckle of the index finger (third from the tip) vertically with the second knuckle of the pinky finger. Practitioners believe this alignment optimizes the arm's bone structure, resulting in a faster, more stable, and ultimately more powerful strike
